Welcome

12 February 2007 by Melissa

Welcome to Bibliotica. I had a bookblog at one of my other sites, but felt the need to have a domain name that was a little more bookish. Comments are welcome, but are screened the first time anyone posts. Reviews are my own opinion, but I’d love to hear yours.

@BrentSpiner I was 17 when a classmate was gunned down on my high school campus because the shooter didn’t want him dating his sister. I’m 52, and I still have nightmares about it. That was one kid. But it doesn’t matter if it’s one or 18 or 300. It’s still beyond wrong.

“Thoughts and prayers” are lovely lip service. We must demand that our elected officials take responsibility and take action. This isn’t about party or politics. It’s about people. #enoughisenough #votevotevote https://t.co/8llOb7W38l https://t.co/P14tNzTsNI

@JimJournalist: Bodies are piling up at the altar. At some point, honesty requires us to classify these dead children and shoppers as ritual sacrifices to a fetishized Second Amendment that allows 18-year-old boys and failed men to become unstoppable gods of destruction and acolytes of death.

The clock ticks. The countertop herb garden’s pump grinds: it needs more water. The owner of the house grunts slightly as she rises from the couch, which creaks in response. The faucet gushes into life and there is a soft click as the woman fills a plastic pitcher. The rubber cap of the herb garden […]

If that seems a bit far-fetched, consider: “Ring Around the Rosie” defines the symptoms of the Plague, and “This Old Man” warns of a  is about a pedophile. “Here We Go ‘Round the Mulberry Bush,” on the other hand,  refers to how female prisoners once got exercise.

Hot Toddy, Cold Ground

Hot Toddy, Cold Ground

There was barely any moon, just enough to let the gravestones show as reverse silhouettes – pieces cut out from the surrounding dark. Pieces that seemed to exist in a world where the light never reached.
