Almost
Author:Elizabeth Benedict
40-something writer Sophy Chase has recently left her husband, walking away from their marriage with nothing. She has a lover, and good friends, and is settling into her life when she gets a call that her husband, from whom she isn’t quite divorced, is dead.
The novel itself feels uneven at times, but I think that might be because the main character is a bit uneven - she’s not yet divorced, not yet sober, not really fulfilled by this new relationship. Everything is ALMOST.
I’d like to read more of Benedict’s work, to see if this is typical of her writing, or not.
As bathtub reading, though, it was enjoyable. Almost.
