eBooks Revisited

While I’m a major fan of actual ink and paper books, mainly because I wouldn’t want to risk using a $300 eBook reader in the bathtub, I confess that sometimes I lust after the Amazon Kindle, or the Samsung Papyrus.

I’ve been a big fan of Samsung ever since I invested in my first smartphone, the first generation Samsung Blackjack, several years ago. I switched to an iPhone 14 months ago, and I like it – especially the Kindle app and the whole concept of the App Store, but since then, Samsung has come out with rival phones that intrigue me just as much.

I’ve been reading more and more via the iPhone’s Kindle app lately – I can take it to some parts of the bathroom, and especially in the wee hours, I like reading that way, because I don’t have to turn on lights and disturb Fuzzy, or deal with booklights…but the screen is small, and having my phone in my hand makes me feel obligated to communicate with people.

On the other hand, I don’t really want to shell out hundreds of dollars for an eBook reader, when I can use the phone for free. Besides, as far as I know, the stylish green Papyrus isn’t even available in the USA yet.

If you’re reading this, tell me what your preference is: paper books, Kindle, iPhone, or something else.
I really want to know!

I love technology, but I think I’ll always be a paper girl when it comes to reading. I just love the feel and smell and textures too much to give it up for a screen.

I read a bit on my i-phone, but only in emergencies – such as when I don’t have a “real” book with me.
