Hi - love this idea! I work in the promotional products industry myself, and think that books would make a great promotional product - unfortunately not many people tend to think of books, plus it ends up being complicated and they aren't really a "safe" option as most books have something to offend someone in this easily offended day and age.

Anyway here's my random excerpt from the book "The lost salt gift of blood" by Alistair MacLeod. Not a new book but a great one. It's a book of short stories and this section (truly random - I just opened a page) is from the story "Island" from page 87.

"And then he was gone. As suddenly as he had come. Seemingly to vanish behind the table rock and the water's edge. She waited for a while, sitting down once more upon the rock to compose herself and then walked up the island's rise towards the lighthouse. Later when she looked down from the kitchen window towards the shanties, she could see him hammering lathes onto a broken lobster trap and readying the bait buckets for the morning. His cap was pushed back upon his head and the evening caught the golden highlights of his burnished hair. He looked up once more and her hand tightened upon the cloth she was holding. Her mother asked her if she would like some tea".
