"Jexium Island" by Madeleine Grattan which is about a foundling, Serge Micar, whose sister by adoption is presumed dead from drowning in the Garonne River. He suspects that she has been shanghaied by the crew of a tramp steamer but nobody believes him. Some few years later, when he reaches his teens, he finds a clue that reopens the past and the possibility of finding out what happened to his lost sister. Wonderful book.
