As well as being the Book Aunt. I have a Book Aunt. She’s my mother’s younger sister Patti (who was interviewed here in connection with her book The Earth Knows My Name) and for as long as I can remember brown paper packages from her have shown up in my mailboxes containing fabulous things to read.
For several years, I received A. A. Milne’s works for each birthday and Christmas. I now have the complete set – not just the original Winnie-the-Pooh, but his verse and short stories as well. Later, it became interesting things she’d read and wanted to share.
Sometimes, I return the favor. I’ve gifted her with Dakota: a Spiritual Geography and A Natural History of the Senses. Other times we recommend the same books to each other…Alexander McCall Smith’s No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series, for example.
Whatever the subject, or style of the book, one thing I can always count on: at some point in December on of those brown paper packages will show up at my door, and I’ll get to spend an afternoon reading and sipping tea, because of my book aunt.

Well it is very nice reading the post. I always enjoys reading this type of post, thanks.
