Touchdown?
It’s early, I know, to be thinking about Super Bowl tickets, but I saw them mentioned on a wish list on some blog or other I tripped across recently, and, because it’s Sunday, and we grocery shop on Sundays, and I’m in a listing kind of mood, I thought, “Hmm, are there novels about the Super Bowl?”
And you know? There are!
- The Sum of All Fears, by Tom Clancy, involves a bomb being detonated at the Super Bowl.
- And This Too Shall Pass, by E. Lynne Harris, has a main character who is an NFL quarterback accused of rape.
- Survivor, by Chuck Palahniuk, has a scene in which an FBI agent dies at the Super Bowl.
- The Super Fix, by Stanley Lithwick and Harvey Chartrand, is a novel all about how the Super Bowl can be thrown.
The plots and events in these books all seem pretty grim, so it leaves me wondering: Are there any novels about the Super Bowl that do NOT involve horrible things happening?
